If the statement credited to the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, is anything to go by, then we can authoritatively report that the embattled former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi is set to be cleared as Minister on Tuesday when the Senate will continue with the screening of the ministerial nominees sent last month to it by President Muhammadu Buhari. He made this known in a recent interview with Daily Post.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, had earlier said that the report on Amaechi was ready and that it would be laid on Tuesday during plenary.

Although Anyanwu was silent on the content of the report on Amaechi, the Senate leader, Ali Ndume said in an interview that the former governor would be screened on Tuesday notwithstanding the Committee report.

In that interview, Ndume said “Quote me, Amaechi will be screened and confirmed because he possesses the qualification to be a minister. I know you are aware that Amaechi has not been convicted of any crime,”

The Senate commenced the the screening of the ministerial nominees last week and is expected to continue on Tuesday.
