Olalekan Adigun has emerged winner of Outstanding Essay Award for the 9th Edition of the Ships and Ports Annual Essay Competition on 17 December, 2015.

The heavily participated Competition featured participants from five of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones according to CEO (of the organizers of the Competition) Ships and Ports Communication Company, Mr. Bolaji Akinola.

Akinola noted that the topic of this year’s Essay: How to boost indigenous participation in the shipping industry, was carefully chosen to enable Nigerians appreciate the maritime industry and to generate and stimulate discussions on issues affecting the sector to enable it play it strategic role as foremost employer on labour in Nigeria.

The competition gave cash prizes to the tune of N300,000 with Uzoigwe Chimezie Daniel emerging the Overall Best Winner of this year’s edition.

Representatives from Nigerian Customs Service and other actors in the Nigerian maritime industry were at the venue to witnesses the occasion and present awards to various winners.
